A sample turns a product idea into something you can measure, handle and review. A clear brief helps everyone understand what the first sample should demonstrate and which details still need a decision.
1. Explain the reference
Send your own design, a technical pack or reference images you have permission to share. Identify the garment type, target size range and intended season. Mark which details matter: silhouette, sleeve shape, neckline, closures, print placement or waistband construction.
A reference image cannot establish fabric composition, weight or an exact fit. If you do not have a full specification, describe your preferred feel and use, then mark the undecided details for discussion. Start with sleepwear and loungewear or another relevant category.
2. Agree the sample scope and charge
Yunya Studio offers paid sampling. Before proceeding, ask what the charge includes: the sample style and size, fabric or trim sourcing, artwork preparation, revision scope and sample shipping arrangements. Sample preparation time is confirmed for the specific brief; it is separate from our indicative standard-order lead time.
A sample charge may be credited toward a later bulk order by agreement. Confirm the amount and conditions in writing. A credit is not an automatic refund or a promise that every sample charge will be returned.
3. Review the sample against a checklist
- Fit: compare the agreed measurement points and target dimensions.
- Material: check the approved fabric reference, hand feel and stretch.
- Construction: inspect seams, openings, cuffs, closures and finishing.
- Artwork: check scale, position, colors and the chosen decoration method.
- Branding: review label content, placement and packaging requirements.
Where wash performance or other testing matters, agree the method and acceptance criteria for the exact material and garment. Visual approval alone does not establish performance or destination-market compliance.
4. Keep revisions in one record
Number the sample versions and return one consolidated change list. Pair each requested change with a measurement or annotated photograph. For example, “increase finished body length by 1 cm from the agreed point” is more actionable than “make it a little longer.” Record what is approved as well as what needs changing.
5. Confirm the bulk-order basis
Before production, agree the sample version, material references, size breakdown, artwork, labels and packaging. Custom production starts at 100 pieces / sets per style and color, with mixed sizes available. Confirm the quotation and schedule against the final scope, especially if revisions affect materials or construction.
